Twilight Zone - The SeriesThe Twilight Zone is a television series created by Rod Serling. 156 episodes were made (of the original series) and contain a mix of science fiction, fantasy, suspense and even or horror. Each story typically ends with an unexpected twist. A popular and critical success, it introduced many Americans to serious science fiction and abstract ideas through television and also through a wide variety of Twilight Zone literature. The SyFy Channel (formerly know as The Sci-fi Channel) runs a Twilight Zone marathon every July 4th and New Years holiday weekend. Mr. Serling used the Twilight Zone "canvas" to convey messages of hope and promise or desperation and despair. Either way the viewer left pondering the situation the main character was in and how it related to the world around them.

My first exposure to The Twilight Zone was from the once a week rerun episodes I caught in the late 1960's. I recall how my father knew most of the endings and how I couldn't wait for the big twist at the end. I wish I could be seeing them for the first time now, as an adult, so that I could appreciate the endings more and experience that feeling of surprise. Now I am sure I have not seen all 156 episodes, as they seem to play the same 30 or so when they run the Twilight Zone marathons. So there is still that chance.
